Cast Iron Dutch Ovens

One pot meals have become quite the rage and have been a subject of cooking shows, books, and all sorts of recipes. One favorite “pot du jour” for preparing a one pot meal is of course a Dutch Oven. Toss your favorite ingredients in, throw it in an oven and your all set. A great benefit of Dutch Ovens is convenience in preparing stovetop ingredients such as sautéing and browning ingredients then transferring it to an oven for final cooking.
Cast Iron Dutch Ovens present a good, uniform cooking environment eliminating the hot spot problem most conventional ovens have and provide uniform heat for the food prepared in them. Sort of like having a self contained convection oven, meals tend to cook faster and more evenly without the tendency for the food to stick or burn onto the surface. If you’re a newbie cooking in cast iron, a good cookbook is a great way to start on your way to culinary excellence.
