Fresh Cabbage Soup

Fresh Cabbage Soup

This has become one of our favorite soup recipes for cold weather. Easy to make with items you may have laying around the house. Add some rolled dumplings or a few pierogi and you have a nice hot meal that satisfies that desire for plain comfort food. And best of all, it’s a one pot dinner making cleanup a breeze. We made ours in a 5 qt. cast iron dutch oven on the stove top in about an hour. Cabbage lovers will appreciate the full flavored broth of this fine soup and dig right in. For non-cabbage lovers, you might just want to give this a try. It might just change your mind.

Polish Cookbook

Polish Cookbook

If you’re interested in trying Polish cooking you might want to check this cookbook out. Everything from soups to main dishes, and of course desserts are in this book, all with a Polish flair. And as the forward states “Polish food is unlike any you have ever tasted”. While most of the recipes are relatively simple and straightforward, others require a bit more attention and time. But the style is distinctively home cooked and definitely comfort food that all will appreciate. As it’s an older book, the original hardbound copy is expensive and hard to come by, but the paperback is readily available. If you’re into cooking at home this makes a nice addition for something different.
