Here’s a very simple BBQ sauce I’ve used over the years. Not too sweet and goes great with just about anything you could throw on the grill.
Works especially well with shredded pork and beef as it won’t overpower the meat or leave you using 50 napkins to clean off your chin.

  • 1 cup onion finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup salad oil
  • 1 1/2 cups ketchup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 6 - 8 drops Frank's hot sauce or equivalent

Instructions
  1. Grab your trusty cast iron skillet, add the oil and heat over medium for about 15 minutes. add the onion and cook until slightly brown and translucent.
  2. Reduce heat to medium low and add everything else. Simmer for an hour, turn off the heat and let cool. Transfer to a suitable container, use what you need and freeze the rest.
  3. Your meat will love you for this.
