Hot Cast Iron Skillet Crab Dip

A hot crab dip prepared in a cast iron skillet. I you want to show off some cast iron snobbery, leave it in the pan as a serving dish. Perfect for small gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Crab Meat
  • 3 ea scallions minced
  • 2 tbs butter
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 4 tbsp cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup gruyere shredded
  • 1/2 tsp old bay seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp dry mustard
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg
  • 1 tbs Bread Crumbs
  • 1 ea Salt to taste
  • 1 ea Pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a 10" Cast Iron Skillet Saute scallions in the melted butter over a medium heat until just tender. Combine seasonings and add Cream Cheese and and combine. Finally add Gruyere reserving 1/4 cup for the topping and stir until thick and bubbly.
  • Gently stir in the Crab Meat until just blended.
  • Top with remaining gruyere and bread crumbs. Bake 20 minutes at 350 till brown and bubbly.

Notes

Serve in hot pan with crackers or warm bread. A cold brew is nice also.
